Dramaturgy

My dramaturgical practice centers on new work development with particular attention to works that engage with feminist, queer, and trans history through archival research, narrative interviews, and auto/ethnographic methods. Most often, I work with playwrights and collectives who use devising and applied theatre practices to develop their works and serve in multiple roles, including as a researcher, sounding board, and co-facilitator in those creative processes.

My commitment to new play development also links my professional work to my pedagogy. At both Cornell University and Kent University, I have brought multiple long-term collaborators to campus for developmental workshops of their plays designed to simultaneously support the artists' work and create opportunities for students working on them to connect with professional artists. I am also committed to creating spaces for student-written and student led work by advocating for increased opportunities for students to share their work formally and informally and by mentoring students as they propose and produce their own projects.
